Next Generation LBS: It's More Than Getting From Point A to Point B

What do Alzheimer’s patients, dogs, your mischievous child, and letting someone know that you are running late have in common? On March 27, the CommNexus LBS SIG presents the latest consumer focused LBS technologies from GTX, Tagg (from Snaptracs, A Qualcomm company), TCS and Glympse.

Location-based services are ubiquitous.  Consumer appetite for innovative services, beyond maps, that maintain their daily relevance continues to rise.  Free maps, smartphones, tablets, mobile advertising, evolving business models, and app stores have paved the way for a new breed of application developers to thrive.  Join us to see some of the latest consumer focused location-based technologies and how these next generation location-based services will change the way we navigate through our daily lives.

As Nextel became a customer for QUALCOMM’s first BREW application for push-to-talk over wireless data networks, QChat™, Dave joined the team to drive business development. Dave was responsible for helping to setting up the worldwide business of QChat, including both carrier sales, and infrastructure/handset licensing.  David holds 14 patents and is listed on 7 patents covering wireless and computing: services, devices, and accessories. Dave has around 10 patents pending.  Prior to joining QUALCOMM, David was recruited to perform product innovation and sales for the first hybrid mobile satellite/terrestrial telephone system launched in the United States, American Mobile Satellite Corporation, currently known as LightSquared.
